Derelict Vessel Program

Keeping our waterways clean

See an abandoned boat? Report it!

The Port of Ridgefield participates in the Washington State Derelict Vessel Program. Administered by the Department of Natural Resources, the program fully reimburses the Port for the identification and removal of abandoned vessels that pose threats to human health and the environment.

We need your help as we find and remove these vessels from Lake River and the Lewis River! If you see a boat, report it to the Port, and we'll remove it.

Step 1: See a derelict vessel? Take some pictures and note your geographic coordinates. You may be able to find coordinates in the pictures you take, or you can just note your general location on Lake River or the Lewis River.

Step 2: Email the pictures, coordinates/location, and your contact info to us at Boating@PortRidgefield.org.

Step 3: The Port will identify and remove the vessel if appropriate.

Step 4: If we remove the vessel you identified, we will contact you to let you know the outcome. If you're interested, we will recognize you on our social platforms for your help keeping our waterways clean!

We appreciate our community's willingness to help and look forward to working with you to protect water quality and the environment around Ridgefield.
